THE INSIDE INFO ON ALARM COMPANIES

 

EQUIPMENT 
There are three major manufacturers of alarm panels: HONEYWELL-ADEMCO, TYCO-DSC AND GE SECURITY PRODUCTS.  All residential security companies use one of these three brands.  Some companies go to the expense of having the same equipment privately labeled.   Don't be misled by a company’s claim that their equipment is better.  A “name brand” sticker on the keypad will cost you more but it won't make your home more secure.

 

INSTALLATION
This is where your safety comes into play.  The alarm panels are set up to monitor the hardwired zones in different ways. Some examples are: normally open devices and normally closed devices with an end of line resistor somewhere in the loop.  The large nationwide security companies standardize the installation procedures for their convenience.  However, an educated thief is aware of these standard practices and knows how to bypass a system installed by a nationwide company.  At WSI SECURITY AND FIRE our installations are random, with different style devices and different wiring circuits. A thief will never easily know how to bypass our systems.

 

PRICE
Everyone knows there is no such thing as free.  Alarms systems are just like cell phones, the companies make their money on the service contract, not the equipment.  WSI SECURITY AND FIRE provides the equipment and installation at no charge.

Why is there such a difference in price between the companies if everything is the same? The answer is short and sweet: advertising.  How much do you think it costs for a company to advertise on every TV channel three times a day and be the first to pop up when you do a search for alarms on the Internet?  National companies have to charge more just to cover the cost of their advertising.
